Description: This dataset is a TIGER/Line Shapefile product from the U.S. Census Bureau including jurisdictions which make up the Transportation Planning Board (TPB) Members. The TIGER/Line shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The MTDB represents a seamless national file with no overlaps or gaps between parts, however, each TIGER/Line shapefile is designed to stand alone as an independent data set, or they can be combined to cover the entire nation.

Display Field: COG_Adjunct.NAME
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: The boundary feature classes were developed using multiple sources to produce the most relevant boundary layers for COG/TPB. Generally, county and county equivalent jurisdictions use the 2020 Census County level TIGER/Line geography. Jurisdictional data for independent cities and other COG/TPB member jurisdictions, where available, were used in place of Census data. The Census TIGER data are available at: https://www.census.gov/geographies/mapping-files/time-series/geo/tiger-line-file.html. The TIGER/Line Shapefiles are extracts of selected geographic and cartographic information from the Census Bureau's Master Address File (MAF)/Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER) system. Although it doesn't include any demographic information, the TIGER/Line Shapefiles contain a standard geographic identifier (GEOID) for each entity that links to the GEOID in the data from censuses and surveys which include them.

Name: Mapping Boundaries - TPB Urbanized Area (2010)
Display Field: NAME10
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: The Census Bureau designates a new list of Urbanized Areas (UZAs) every 10 years, following the conclusion of each decennial census. The designation of UZAs by the U.S. Census Bureau has significant implications for the metropolitan planning process. Most significantly, current Federal law requires that every UZA be represented by a metropolitan planning organization (MPO) which carries out the metropolitan transportation planning process for the UZA and surrounding areas. Furthermore, UZAs with populations exceeding 200,000 are designated as Transportation Management Areas (TMAs) bringing additional responsibilities.
