DISCLAMER: Average weekday ridership data for each month is reported as provided by Transit Operators. The data is reported by route, and in some cases by group of routes. The attribute ‘OperRtNM’ is the route name (or group of route names) used by the Transit Operators and level at which data was provided to MWCOG/TPB. While the lines for each route direction as well as peak and off-peak may be available, the average weekday ridership data is not specific to those attributes. The 2012 Metro Rail Passenger Survey was conducted by WMATA between April 13 and May 25, 2012 at three to four stations per day. It was conducted as an intercept survey with mail back, drop-box, and online options. Follow-up surveys were conducted in June 2012 at low response stations. For weekdays, a total of 295,525 questionnaires were distributed during five different time periods: AM Peak (opening to 9:29 a.m.), Midday (9:30 a.m. to 2:59 p.m.), PM Peak (3:00 p.m. to 6:59 p.m.), Evening (7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.) and Late Night (12:00 a.m. to close). In total, 61,359 weekday responses were received. The survey was used to update ridership by jurisdiction of residence for use in Metrorail’s operating subsidy allocation. Demographic, travel and access data was also collected for Title VI compliance, system planning and operations analyses. Summary weekday results, by shift, are reported in this dataset. ‘Other Data’ refers to the ‘Average Weekday Passenger Boardings’ and ‘Available Parking Options’. |
