Service Description: Regional Core area. Defined historically as Ring 0 and Ring 1 in the regional travel demand model. The regional core is also used to define the transit constraint-- a technical adjustment of trip tables coming out of the mode choice process designed to reflect a WMATA policy assumption that, during peal periods, the Metrorail system may have insufficient capacity to handle all of the demand traveling to and through the regional core.
